Memes; Separation from God

Computer assisted reconstruction of a rotaviru...
Image via Wikipedia

Memes are beliefs that are circulated through a society or culture, much like a virus. Like viruses, they are seldom benificial and usually have the purpose of holding individuals within a society ‘in their place.’

There are many classes or types of memes, depending on their function and source. Memes will certainly serve, also, to keep you from getting in the vortex. Some prime examples of memes within the American culture are;

‘Nice guys finish last.’

‘The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.’

‘Love of money is the root of all evil.’  (A popular mis-quote, by the way.)

Examples such as these are just the tip of the iceberg.  American culture abounds with such saws and the media is filled with examples of rich people being portrayed as self serving, shallow, greedy and dishonest. Far from being the real truth, these types of memes allow members of society to feel justified in ‘staying in place,’ not expecting more and therefore not striving for more.

Historically, people in power have twisted spiritual truths to suit their own ends. If you want people to be willing to sacrifice theirselves in whatever military conflagaration you think up, what better way than to play up self sacrifice as a virtue that will be rewarded in the afterlife.

If you want to keep folks in their place, get them to believe that God choses the rulers and that only the select few can speak with god. It will also help to keep people from feeling empowered (getting in the Vortex,) if they believe that god exists outside of them and that ‘He’ is a judgemental and vengeful god.  Also get them to believe that god is in control of their destiny and they will soon stop trying to become self actualized.

“Prologue

The Story of Easter

Imagine you are on an island. The ocean lazes out before you, a stretch of glass-glinting blue. The sky is clear and the overhead sun bakes your skin. Palm trees rustle in the breeze and the grass plains ripple like a second sea.

The people of the island are thriving. The trees offer syrup, the ground provides cane and the ocean provides porpoise. You gaze out over the cliff-drop and watch as a canoe lunges on to the beach. Its crew leap out, shouting, hauling the vessel and their laden nets. Around them, children run and splash in excitement.

The islander’s huts rest in the shade of forest. There are barely half a dozen buildings, constructed of woven-together wood, fragile but functional.

Time passes. Over the years, the population grows. Huts become villages and palm trees are felled. Squinting out to sea, you make out twenty boats or more.

Black clouds thicken on the horizon. The wind snatches at your cheeks. Thunder grumbles and cracks. Day turns to night and the ocean seethes like a snake nest. Waves explode into foam and boats smash upon the rocks. Crops are ripped from the earth. Huts fold and collapse.

The day after the hurricane, the people of the island decide to build a god.

It takes them many months to carve the god. It has the face of an islander, with almond eyes and narrow cheeks. To bring the god to the cliff top, the islanders lop down more trees and create

runways, the statue trundling upon trunks slick with sap. More trunks lever the statue on to its platform. The ingenuity of the engineering is awe-inspiring.

More years pass, and another cold breeze snaps against your skin. Another death-black cloud scrubs out the sun. The seas rip and crash. More canoes are lost, more fishermen, more huts, more crops.

The islanders realise their folly. Their god has not failed them-they have failed their god. To make amends, they must build a second god.

Night becomes day becomes years and the statue is joined by another, and another and another. They appear, popping into existence along the cliff, one by one. They stand in a silent chorus, each facing the rising sun.

Still the storms come. The islanders split into opposing tribes, each blaming the others for their gods’ failure. Each faction creates its own god, and another and another. Each one is bigger than the last and requires more resources.

More trees are felled. The quarry is hollowed out.

Your attention turns inland, and you are surprised to see that where once there was forest there now stand a few skeletal palms. The huts that remain are battered. The people’s bodies are wasted, their skin seeping with disease.

Another year passes and the forest is reduced to one lone tree. The other palms have been cut down, to repair the huts, to replace the lost canoes, to trundle yet more gods to the cliffs. The people have become desperate. They weave canoes of grass and reed but they prove too fragile. Without the shelter of the forest, the village is abandoned.

The tribes split and split again, and wars rage. They fight and what they kill they cannabalise. You hear a crackling fire and smell sweet roast. Glistening meat is scraped from a charred skull and devoured.

A blink of an eye and the final tree has vanished. Where did it go? To forge spears, to transport a god, to build a canoe? You stare in disbelief. Surely it should have been obvious that by destroying the forest, they were destroying their means of food, of shelter, of survival, of escape, of salvation? What madness must have possessed them?

The tribes fight until there are few left. And those that remain turn their anger on their gods. They smash out the eyes, demolish the platforms, they topple the statues. The island that remains is scorched and barren.

You stand and stare out to sea where two hundred statues once stood. Now the idols are half buried among the grasses that ripple. The islanders have gone.

Now stop imagining. You are on an island.”

The Power of Self Image

Shishido before and after the plastic surgery ...
Image via Wikipedia

In Psycho-Cybernetics by Dr. Maxwell Maltz, he writes about how he started his career as a plastic surgeon and he noticed a very interesting thing that would go on. He noticed that, for some, a change in their appearance led to a new lease on life just as one might expect but, in others, there was no change at all, in fact these cases often couldn’t see any change in the area that was operated on.

This led Dr. Maltz to the postulate that there was an ‘interior’ self image and if a person’s  interior self image gave them the idea that they had an unattractive, too large nose then nothing could be done that would help them in the way of surgery.

He eventually came to the conclusion that self image becomes a ‘golden key,’ because;

“1. All your actions, feelings, behavior-even your abilities-are always consistent with this self inage.

2. The self image can be changed.”

Perhaps the first step in changing a self image is taking honest stock in just what that self image looks like. If you are often stopped from doing something by the belief that you just don’t have the ability or just aren’t good enough, you need to change your self image. A first step in this direction would be to change your ’self talk,’ all those things that you say to yourself which are mostly things others have said about you in your past.

How forgiving of yourself are you, when you percieve that you have made a mistake? Do you beat yourself up over it and call yourself abusive names? How often do you compliment yourself on a job well done and what are your thoughts before you set to a task? Do you encourage yourself and say you can do it, or do you tear yourself down before you even start and say you’ll probably mess it up?

Change the way you think, about yourself and change your results.

The Point of Combustion

Esther-Hicks
Image via Wikipedia

Don’t worry, this isn’t about spontaneous combustion. You’ve probably heard the following words in the lyrics of several different songs;
‘It only takes a spark to start a flame.’
Probably said in slightly different ways in many songs it, of course, is not talking about starting an actual fire but the flame of passion.
This is what is meant by ‘point of combustion;’ that all the little sparks of passion for what it is you desire get drawn together and, after a certain point, it become an unstoppable manifestation.
Here’s what Abraham-Hicks has to say about the ‘point of combustion;
“ Every thought that you think is vibrating at a very personal frequency . . . and by the powerful Law of Attraction (the essence of that which is like unto itself, is drawn), that thought is now attracting another thought that is its Vibrational Match. And now, those combined thoughts are vibrating at a frequency that is higher than the thought that came before; and they will now, by the Law of Attraction, attract another and another and another, until eventually the thoughts will be powerful enough to attract a “real life” situation or manifestation.”

— Abraham

So how do you accomplish this? By deliberately choosing a topic you feel good about and focusing on it for at least a minute each day. Shut out the worries and the news and just let yourself revel in a good feeling moment.
Practice feeling good!

Manifestation Technique #2; The Attitude of Gratitude

Yes, developing a powerful ‘attitude of gratitude,’ is another manifestation technique that will help you to draw more abundance and prosperity into your life. It gets back to feeling good and raising your vibration but also, when you say ‘thank you!’ to the Universe for what you have received, the Universe is going to respond by giving you more.
If you are always going around saying ‘there’s never enough!’ then this is what the Universe will respond to. You must understand that the Universe takes you quite literally and we are always ‘asking for it’ in one way or another.
True, being grateful is not something that comes easily or naturally to many of us. Many of us were born into environments that gave us feelings of entitlement, and if things don’t go our way, well, we’re just unhappy as can be over this.
I recently saw a show where a Jewish man recounted how he and others made it through the experience of a German concentration camp by finding things to be grateful about. Whenever they got fed, for example, they gave thanks even though the food would be considered swill by normal standards.
I thought about what an inspiring story this was; surely if these people could find things to be grateful for in a concentration camp, most of the rest of us have no excuse  for not being able to find something to be grateful for in our lives.
Later, he told of how, when they were being moved about on rail, people from the resistance tossed bread down to them from under bridges. He said it brought to mind the Biblical story of manna from heaven.
Practice gratitude on a regular basis and you will begin to attract more abundance and prosperity into your life. Try keeping a notebook and spend twenty minutes or so each day writing what you are grateful for in it.
Here’s some tips;
Be grateful for things you take for granted like gravity. One time a friend of mine in school told me he had woken up on the morning of his birthday and his first thought was; ‘thank god for gravity!’
My first thought was; ‘what a nut!’ but, when you think about it, not much would be possible without gravity.
Like the Estonian proverb says; ‘Who does not thank for little will not thank for much.’
This means that gratitude is a habit of mind and if you are not grateful for the little things then you will not appreciate the big things either and the Universe will say ’why should you get more abundance and prosperity when there’s nothing you like about anything in the first place?’

Manifestation Technique #1

The Secret
Image by devilicious.symphonick via Flickr

Here is a super powerful manifestation technique that will allow you to manifest abundance and prosperity into your life or anything else you desire.
First you get a notebook. You are going to chose a goal, whether it be abundance and prosperity or whatever else you decide and you’re going to write about your goal everyday for at least thirty days, or until your goal manifests, and not miss a single day.
This is how you are going to write about it;
First you write ‘I am so happy and grateful that there is abundance and prosperity in my life now,’ or whatever your goal is. Be sure to put it in the present tense just like the example.
Next you are going to write ‘I support myself in having abundance and prosperity in my life and I am deeply grateful for the fulfillment of this desire.’
Again, follow the format very closely.
Now this is really the important part;
You are going to fill up a page and spend at least five minutes writing about how it feels to have your goal. This part should be really fun and you should really get into it. Really explore all the feelings you would have if you had your goal. Experience them NOW. Get it?
Finish up your entry by giving thanks to your Higher Self for the fulfillment of your desire.

Making a Demand on God”s Provision for Healing

Tanumânasî Meditación en postura del Loto (Pad...
Image via Wikipedia

It might sound counter-intuitive to some, but the way to be making a demand on god”s provision for healing is by quieting your mind.
Your body knows how to heal itself, after all, it replaces all of your cells periodically. By ‘getting out of the way’ and stilling your mind for at least fifteen minutes everyday, you can allow your cells to connect with Source Energy and, in this way, you will be making a demand on god”s provision for healing.
The way to do it is to sit in a quiet place where you will be undisturbed. If you have a favorite yoga position then use that.
One way to quiet your mind is to just watch your thoughts. You can also focus on your breathing. Breathe deeply and slowly using abdominal breaths.
Before this meditation affirm to yourself that your body knows how to heal itself and all you have to do is relax and breathe. In the stillness of the void, you will be making a demand on god”s provision for healing

Using Law of Attraction to Manifest Abundance and Prosperity

Illustration of vibrations of a drum.
Image via Wikipedia

In order to use the Law of Attraction to manifest abundance and prosperity, you need to be a vibrational match to your goals.
Many people mistakenly believe that, because they think and talk or even write about their goals a lot, that this is what will cause their goals to manifest. What matters, however, is how you think about your goals. How you think about your goals and how you feel when you think about them is the key to knowing if you are a vibrational match to your desires.
For example, when you think about money, if you feel worried and think about how you don’t have enough, then this is not a vibrational match to having more money.
For many, it is simply not so easy to go right away from a feeling of worry and lack to a feeling of peace, confidence happiness and abundance.
Why is this?
It’s because of the Law of Attraction. Your thoughts are substance and that same Law of Vibration that says like attracts like and like cause creates like effect makes it difficult to go from a habitually negative vibration to a much higher one quickly and maintain it.
For this reason, if you can’t maintain a high vibration in regards to thinking of your goals, it is recommended that you take your mind off of your goals and put it onto something, anything, that allows you to feel good.
If you have experienced lack in your life, your Higher Self has already formulated a desire for abundance and prosperity and is holding on to it for you.
All you have to do is find a way to feel good and maintain that for a good portion of your day and this will enable you to connect to your source and all the good things that your Higher Self has been holding to for you will start to flow into your existence, including the abundance and prosperity that you seek.

Are you seeking more abundance and prosperity in your life?

The Universe is abundant; just look around. Do you have only one blade of grass in your lawn? When you breathe, do you inhale only one molecule of air? Is there only one star in the heavens?

When the Universe creates, it goes all out, and why not? it can afford to; it’s the source of abundance and prosperity.

If you want to begin to attract more abundance and prosperity into your life, there are a few rather easy things you can start doing;

One is to clear your mind of the junky beliefs that society has put there. The Universe is abundant but mankind has these beliefs in lack and scarcity. These beliefs are put there by people who are ‘in control.’ They make you believe that you must behave in a certain way and do certain things or you will be consumed by lack and scarcity.

Sit down and quiet your mind for twenty minutes or so at a time. Just clear your mind and you will be amazed by the positive energy that comes through from your own source energy.

Feel good. When you feel good you are in the Vortex. You are in alignment with source energy and you will begin to attract the abundance and prosperity that you seek.

Accept your life and look for things about it that you can feel good about no matter how small they may seem. If you only focus on what you hate about your life, you remain stuck. If you feel good, your life can begin to change.

Spend some time each day feeling good. Listen to music that makes you feel good or watch a video.
